Apply for Grants

The framework is free, the examples are free, the connection to other teachers is free; actually getting students out of the classroom and into the watershed takes resources. The Iowa Water Center manages a seed grant program that provides schools with funds to cover:

  • Professional development

  • Transportation

  • Educational materials

  • Project supplies

Grants are awarded on an annual basis. We accept applications from September-November for the following school year (i.e., apply by Nov 30, 2018 to implement the project during the 2019-2020 school year). Attendance at a professional development workshop in high quality project-based learning is a requirement of the grant and takes place the summer before implementation. Additionally, grantees must travel to the Iowa Water Conference, held each March in Ames, with a contingency of students from their class to present to conference attendees.

Applications and detailed instructions will be available on this page in mid-August.
